An African proverb states: “Children are the reward of life.” So, children are not our possessions but they are our reward, especially after having taken responsibility for them, every day of our life, for 20 odd years. Unfortunately, when you are ‘just-a-mother’ or a ‘mainly-mother’ as I call us; family, church, court and society go out of their way to steal our children to add to their power. It is easy to say that this is the way of life, just to suck it up and accept it; but, it takes a crazy courage to stand alone and say, enough is enough. I am confident that my active voice, not only talking problems but creating solutions too, will - in due course - change a room, a city, a state, a nation and the world [paraphrased from a quote by Former USA President: Barack Obama]. For my voice to be heard, I cannot afford to fear a storm; I have to BE the storm. The time has come for mainly-mothers to unite.
